Weekly Tarot Card – King of Cups Reversed

IMG_0846I like how the King is a bit askew in this upside down position here. It points to what happens when this usually emotionally intelligent ruler is off his game. This week with the start of Mercury in Retrograde expect bosses to erupt when their flights get cancelled, professors to act as if they got up on the wrong side of the bed. That usually calm and collected sensitive authoritarian in your life is grasping for equanimity and it’s time to duck if you’re in the vicinity.

Of course the unbalanced authoritarian could be you. If that’s the case, count to ten A LOT and reach for compassion and patience. Even reaching is a good strategy to curb knee-jerk reactions.

Weekly Tarot Card – King of Cups

IMG_0782 2A king wearing flowing robes sits upon an upholstered throne with luxurious rounded edges. The curves of the throne correspond to the flowing emotions of this ruler’s heart. He holds a scepter (power) in one hand and a golden cup (emotions) in the other. His throne is perfectly balanced on the wavy sea where ships and fish appear in the distance.  This week an older man of authority (boss, father, teacher) will show you the value of ruling with the information gained from the heart. Or perhaps you will bring this emotional intelligence into your own way of handling your affairs. The egg harkens to the mystery of new beginnings and the frog reminds us how to live in and out of the water so we never become completely submerged.

Weekly Tarot Card – King of Cups Reversed

IMG_0550Are your emotions getting the better of you? Do you feel you are not in control of your actions? This King of Cups Reversed is here to encourage you to use emotional intelligence this week. And you will have plenty of opportunity to do so. Remember, we are in the thick of holiday season and there’s a lot of shtuff going around. Kings are rulers with authority gained from experience. Cups are emotions and relationships. This king has control of his emotions and rules with compassion and heart. However when the heart flow is blocked this king will act very badly and use his great gifts of spirit to manipulate and control the situation negatively. This week step back and resist reactive behavior. Seek to understand why you are feeling your feelings before you act out on them. You will return to balance and ride the waves of emotions with aplomb just like the King of Cups when he is turned right-side up.
